Cap Times Live was launched in May 2021 to help local musicians, who are among those whose livelihoods have been hit hardest by the pandemic. We see this series as a way to introduce local musicians to new fans and to give them a platform during a time when in-person performances are still limited. Each performance is a one-hour long set, and it also includes an interview with Cap Times features editor Rob Thomas.
We knew our readers wanted to know ways to support the local arts community, and based on our Google Analytics, they were craving content around entertainment and music. We know video is a high-performing medium on social media right now, so creating a video series would pay help us reach new Cap Times readers. We also know the Madison music scene is diverse. There is a large amount of talent in our community our readers may not yet be aware of.
The Cap Times was launched in 1917. We are a local news organization delivering authoritative journalism focused on Madison and beyond. Today, we produce a weekly print newspaper, but our primary delivery is digital.
