For over 20 years, high school students from Portland and surrounding towns and cities convene in the small white house at the University of Southern Maine to plan, produce and host a one-hour weekly public affairs program on WMPG. From choosing topics, locating qualified guests, planning interviews, creating complimentary features to extend the topic of the show, and many other activities, the students are in charge as the engineers, the hosts, the producers, the publicists and the interviewers. All skills required to do these tasks are taught here at WMPG by the Blunt Youth Coordinator, Claire Holman and WMPG volunteers. Students participate in the Blunt Youth Radio Project at no cost to them or their families.
