Hoffman will succeed Franz Joachim, who is retiring March 31. Hoffman will begin working as co-GM March 24 and will take the helm on his own April 1, according to a news release.

New Mexico PBS is co-licensed by the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools. Teresa Costantinidis, EVP of finance and administration at the university and board chair for the station, said Hoffman “is a strong and experienced leader who understands the vital role public media plays in advancing New Mexico.”

Hoffman is currently assistant dean of media and GM of Ball State PBS and Indiana Public Radio in Muncie, Ind. Before that, he was executive director and assistant VP at WUCF in Orlando, Fla.

Before joining WUCF, Hoffman was director of broadcast services and GM of KMOS in Warrensburg, Mo. He was also GM of ZTV, a student-run station at the University of Akron, and WAPS in Akron, Ohio.

“I look forward to working with the team at New Mexico PBS to build on its legacy of civic service while adapting to today’s media environment,” Hoffman said. “The opportunity to serve New Mexico—with its rich culture and strong commitment to education and storytelling—is energizing.”

Hoffman is Indiana’s VP for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He is also co-chair of Vision Maker Media, a member of the National Multicultural Alliance.
