The Roundhouse Foundation is providing more than $1.5 million to assist public media, according to a news release.
The money from the Oregon-based foundation is going to the Public Media Bridge Fund and Native Public Media, which has more than 60 radio and TV stations in its network.
The Roundhouse Foundation started in 2002 and supports programs that “inspire creativity, connect people with each other and their sense of place, and ensure sustainability for the long-term economic success of Oregon’s rural communities,” according to its website.
The Public Media Bridge Fund, managed by Public Media Co., awarded $26 million in its first round of grants this month to 74 organizations that are the most in need after the congressional rescission of CPB funding.
PMC CEO Tim Isgitt told Current in an email that the Roundhouse Foundation gave the Bridge Fund a $1 million grant.
“Roundhouse Foundation’s support is instrumental in our efforts to secure and sustain local public media service for many rural and underserved communities around the country,” Isgitt said.
