The Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University appointed Chris Bolt GM of WAER in Syracuse, N.Y.
As a journalist, Bolt has covered Central New York for three decades. He has worked as WAER’s director of news and public affairs since 1995, according to a press release.
In his new role, he succeeds Joseph Lee, who left in September to become GM of NJ PBS.
“I am excited and honored to be able to lead WAER Public Media forward as we continue to serve our audience and fulfill the mission of our students’ professional development,” Bolt said. “I have devoted my career to public radio and to teaching aspiring broadcasters and journalists. I am fortunate to be able to continue working with a staff that has extensive experience and commitment to the same missions.”
