Dan Larkin has been named station manager of KBEM/Jazz88 radio, a noncommercial station owned by Minneapolis Public Schools.
He replaces Michele Jansen, who recently stepped down as station manager after 14 years, according to a news release.
Larkin was previously a traffic reporter for the station in 2016.
Away from KBEM, Larkin was most recently co-owner and partner of PiedPiper.Media, a producer of video and audio content about the cannabis industry. He was also director of broadcasting and technology for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx NBA and WNBA teams.
He was also director of programming and operations from 2007–09 for Rushmore Radio in Rapid City, S.D., managing an AM and four FM stations. Larkin was also EP for Leeza Gibbons’ nationally syndicated radio show Leeza at Nite.
“I’m excited to join this legendary station and to continue its mission to serve the Minneapolis Public Schools,” Larkin said in a news release. “… The public support of the station, through pledges, donations, and gifts is the key to our continued growth and success. I’m looking forward to expanding that support by providing even more value to the listeners, the students, and the community.”
