  • Stations report higher gifts as door-to-door canvassing resumes

    Public media stations have relaunched door-to-door canvassing this spring with the easing of pandemic restrictions, and results so far have exceeded their expectations. Stations that resumed canvassing have seen average new sustainer gifts rise 10%, to $14.12 a month, compared to pre-pandemic levels, said Michal Heiplik, president and co-founder of Contributor Development Partnership, a consulting group that helps stations organize canvassing programs. Revenue collected per shift has jumped 21% and the number of conversations canvassers have had with residents has increased 19%, based on data from four stations that restarted their programs, Heiplik said.
