  • ‘Takeaway’ host Tanzina Vega resigns

    Tanzina Vega announced Friday on Twitter that she has resigned as host of The Takeaway, WNYC’s nationally syndicated public radio program. Vega “As the first Latina to host the Takeaway I’m very proud of the work I did transforming the show into a national success that explored the societal gaps of wealth, empathy and truth in our daily lives,” Vega said in a note.

    Libbrecht Stacey Libbrecht rejoined PBS as VP of creative services and will work on campaigns for general audience programming. Libbrecht started her career with PBS as an intern in 1996 and held several production roles, including senior writer, producer.

  • KPFK hires Miquel Calçada as GM

    Pacifica’s KPFK in Los Angeles announced Miquel Calçada as its new GM.  Calçada “KPFK radio has great talent and enormous potential and I look forward to working in collaboration with all members to tackle current challenges,” Calçada said on the station’s website.  KOPN in Columbia, Mo. hired Calçada as GM in January.  “Since relocating to the US three years ago, I have been fascinated by the public media model here, particularly by the community radio paradigm,” Calçada said at the time in a press release.
