  • Chicago Public Media board approves ‘Sun-Times’ acquisition

    Chicago Public Media’s board of directors approved the acquisition of the ​​Chicago Sun-Times, CPM announced Tuesday.  The deal, which is expected to close by Jan. 31, will make the newspaper a subsidiary of Chicago Public Media and will bring two prominent newsrooms in Chicago under the CPM umbrella.  The two brands will maintain their identities.

  • New PBS initiatives will support filmmakers of color, offer early-career mentoring

    PBS President Paula Kerger announced new funding and other initiatives for diverse filmmakers Tuesday at the start of PBS’ portion of the Television Critics Association annual winter press tour. The announcement expanded on previous measures to increase funds and opportunities for filmmakers of color, building on initiatives announced last summer.

    NPR is developing a new standards and ethics handbook that will tackle editorial issues facing its member stations across the country. Young After putting out a call for Network Handbook Working Group candidates, which elicited over 70 applications from station staffers, NPR chose a dozen participants.
