    Four public broadcasters in the Gulf States region will form a collaborative newsroom, the third across the country to be supported by NPR and CPB. The collaboration will involve Mississippi Public Broadcasting; WWNO in New Orleans; WKRF in Baton Rouge, La.; and WBHM in Birmingham, Ala.

    CPB promoted Katherine Arno to VP of community service grants and station initiatives. She will oversee the Community Service Grant program, which annually distributes more than $300 million to support stations.  Arno “Kate has been instrumental in CPB’s work developing and implementing policies that support and strengthen local public media stations, which are the cornerstone of America’s public media system,” said CPB EVP and COO Michael Levy.

  • Public media must open more paths to leadership training

    A recent survey of public media employees found glaring needs for professional development and training. Among nearly 600 frontline staff and CEOs of local stations, less than 20% said they were satisfied with professional development opportunities within the system.
