A new book examines the Philadelphia station’s efforts to address structural racism and how a newsroom leader’s departure affected those initiatives.
APT will distribute “The Niagara Movement,” a one-hour documentary from Lawrence Hott and WNED, for national broadcast.
The funds will help stations upgrade their technology for emergency alerts.

The four-part pilot series will be released on YouTube and the PBS video app.
Phillips joined Iowa PBS in 1990 and became its leader in 2013.
The public TV station is reeling from the unexplained death of former CEO Lesley Matuszak and disclosures of “questionable, unauthorized or improper” expenditures.
Eppler most recently worked as chief human resources officer for Cutera, a medical equipment manufacturing firm.
The three-year contract is expected to go into effect in the coming weeks.
The cuts primarily affected roles within WNYC Studios, the division that houses the organization’s podcasts.
