CPM’s interim CEO told staff that the entities are looking to “strengthen local journalism in the city and our region.”
The podcast follows months of criticism directed at PBS and public media about the system’s DEI initiatives and lack of transparency.
Daniel Alarcón, host and EP of NPR’s “Radio Ambulante” podcast, was among this year’s recipients.
“Enterprising local reports from newsrooms across the country are simply not reflected enough in the NPR’s signature news magazines,” writes former CPB Board member Howard Husock.
NPR has exceeded financial expectations in the current fiscal year thanks in part to a “great resurgence” in sponsorship.
“Sara is an extraordinary leader and renowned innovator in children’s media,” said PBS President Paula Kerger.
“If new donors continue declining overall, that means retention of those donors is going to be more important than ever.”
