Guy Raz will step away from his role as host and editorial director of TED Radio Hour at the end of the year, NPR announced Tuesday.
He will continue to host How I Built This, which features interviews with founders of well-known companies, and the children’s podcast Wow in the World.
NPR will continue producing TED Radio Hour, which airs on more than 600 public radio stations. The podcast version of the show was the seventh most-popular podcast among U.S. listeners in May, according to Podtrac.
“I’m super excited about the next chapter of the show,” Raz said in an interview with NPR. “I have poured so much of myself into this show over the past seven years and I know that the next iteration will be even better and more exciting.”
The network has begun a search for a new TED Radio Hour host. It expects the new host will start next year.
“We are eager to find a host capable of continuing Guy’s commitment to excellence, while having the freedom to add their own, compelling approach,” NPR said in a press release.
Raz began hosting TED Radio Hour when the show became weekly in 2013. He was previously the weekend host of All Things Considered and has held numerous jobs with the network. He joined NPR in 1997 as an intern for ATC.
How sad for us listeners who absolutely love listening to Guy Raz. His interaction with each guest always keeps me coming back for more. I have been a loyal listener of this show ,as well as How I Built This, for years. Any show he hosts will likely be my next favorite. Thanks, Guy!
