NPR and KPCC in Pasadena, Calif., are the beneficiaries of Seth MacFarlane’s frustration with Fox News.

MacFarlane is donating $2 million to NPR and $500,000 to KPCC, according to Deadline. The donations come after MacFarlane tweeted he’s “embarrassed” to work for Fox in response to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson telling viewers they should “assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations.”

MacFarlane is the creator of the TV series Family Guy and The Orville and co-creator of American DadFamily Guy and The Orville currently air on Fox.

The donation to NPR will go towards its collaborative journalism network. KPCC will use the money as a challenge grant, according to Deadline.

“We are deeply appreciative of the generous gift from Seth MacFarlane, which will go to supporting local news coverage, allowing NPR and Member stations to continue working together to tell the story of the whole country from everywhere in the country,” said NPR spokesperson Isabel Lara said in a statement.

“We are deeply moved by Seth’s generous contribution to Southern California Public Radio, KPCC and NPR,” said Southern California Public Radio CEO Bill Davis in a statement.

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly said American Dad currently airs on Fox. It airs on TBS.

  1. Ehem. A little credit for posting the Family Guy clip that explicitly mentions the public radio outlet in Rhode Island: WRNI. :)

Now if we could just convince Seth to donate $500k to us as well! :) No really, can anyone convince him of that?
