New York’s WNET.org announced last week that Shelley Lewis, a former CNN and ABC executive producer, has that role for Need To Know, a new Friday-night PBS current affairs magazine show that debuts May 7 at 8:30 p.m., succeeding Now and Bill Moyers’ Journal

Lewis comes from Howdini.com, a how-to video website for women that she co-created; she also co-created Air America Radio and was its senior v.p. of programming.

She was previously e.p. of CNN’s American Morning with Paula Zahn and Greenfield at Large, and before that was e.p. for ABC News Productions.

Lewis is author of Five Lessons I Didn’t Learn from Breast Cancer (And One Big One I Did), published in 2008.

Her program will be produced at WNET.org at its new Lincoln Center studio by the Creative News Group, a WNET.org unit that also makes Worldfocus.
