Louisville Public Media has acquired assets for the city events calendar service Do502, the station announced Wednesday.

Do502 is a free service that allows users to search and share local events. LPM is already using Do502 for calendars on its stations’ websites. Do502 is part of DoStuff Media, which LPM will partner with to operate the Do502 website and app.

“Running Do502 is a perfect fit with Louisville Public Media’s talents and mission,” says LPM President Michael Skoler, in a press release. “Our three public radio stations and events … already connect the community to shared interests, passions and our rich cultural life. We aim to make Do502 the easiest way to connect with all of the city’s diverse energy.”

The service, launched in 2014, will not change at first, but LPM has “big plans to expand the calendar,” Skoler said in a blog post. “When we’re finished, it will include a broad range of arts, sports, family, educational and community events. And we’ll make it easy to search, so if you’re looking just for sports, or just family-friendly events for the kids, you can do that with one click.”

Do502’s JP Hill will join LPM full-time as content manager. LPM is also hiring a experience director to oversee and grow the platform.

The service has nearly 40,000 registered users.
