StoryCorps will collect stories in 10 U.S. cities next year in its Airstream trailer turned recording studio, the organization announced Thursday.

The MobileBooth, which gathers 40-minute interviews between friends and relatives, will stop for a month in each city. A copy of each interview is given to the participants and archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

The cities are:

  • Fort Myers, Fla., Jan. 5 – Feb. 3
  • Mobile, Ala., Feb. 9 – March 10
  • Lexington, Ky., March 16 – April 14
  • Cincinnati, Ohio, April 20 – May 19
  • Bloomington, Ind., May 25 – June 23
  • Detroit, June 29 – July 28
  • Des Moines, Iowa, Aug. 3 – Sept. 1
  • Minneapolis, Sept. 7 – Oct. 6
  • Shreveport, La., Oct. 12 – Nov. 10
  • Corpus Christi, Texas, Nov. 16 – Dec. 20

Local public radio stations will partner with StoryCorps at each stop and air selections from the interviews. The participating stations are WGCU, Alabama Public Radio, WUKY, Cincinnati Public Radio, WFIU, WDET, Iowa Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, Red River Radio and KEDT.

“As our MobileBooth crisscrosses the country, recording one conversation at a time, we are building an archive that reflects the rich diversity of American voices and tells the true story of this nation — a people defined by acts of courage, kindness and heroism,” said Dave Isay, founder and president of StoryCorps, in a press release.

Correction: This post initially omitted a April 20-May 19 stop in Cincinnati, Ohio.
