PBS MediaShift is getting into journalism training with a pair of online webinars this month as the launch of its new training series, DigitalEd.

MediaShift is partnering with the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri and BigMarker, an online conferencing platform. The one-hour sessions will cost $39 each. The organization is pursuing future sessions that would be free and supported by sponsors.

“In surveys, the MediaShift audience has asked for more workshops and training, and we’re trying to provide more of that for them,” said Mark Glaser, founder and executive editor of PBS MediaShift, in a statement. “Thanks to seed funding from RJI, we’re able to offer practical, how-to training that will give people the skills they need to succeed.”

DigitalEd will launch with a session April 22 about measuring impact. A second session April 29 will focus on tips and techniques for reporting using smartphones.
