After 16 months of negotiations, unionized employees at KPCC in Pasadena, Calif., have negotiated their first contract with management.

The three-year contract was announced Friday by broadcast union SAG-AFTRA, which represented employees in negotiations. The contract covers more than 70 employees at KPCC, including producers, anchors, photographers, data journalists and news assistants. After being voted into the workplace in January 2013, SAG-AFTRA began contract negotiations in April 2013.

The agreements guarantees annual wage increases in addition to merit-based raises, new guidelines for temporary employees and restrictions on the use of interns, according to the SAG-AFTRA release.

KPCC’s union representative and a SAG-AFTRA spokesperson have not returned calls seeking comment.
